Now in Britain the Great British Ligth Switch

I've found today another fighting against Edison's light bulb. Southern Electric and The Sun have joined to launch The Great British Light Switch. This is a national campaign to cut Britain’s emissions. This is not a law like in US but this is giveaway, Southern Electric are giving away 4.5 mln free energy saving light bulbs to over 2 million Sun readers on January 19th 2008. Energy law in US turns off Edison's light bulb

The US energy bill signed into law on Wednesday will require lighting to use up to 30% less energy, which will basically kick out the incandescent light bulb. It's because it won't be able to meet the new ecology standards. I can believe but higher requirements under the new law phase out the 100-watt bulb beginning in 2012. The fer the more - the 75-watt bulb a year later and then 40- and 60-watt bulbs will be phased out in 2014.
